Why Your App Has a Mature Age Rating
Your app carries a mature age rating, Mature 17+ on Google Play and the highest age tier on Apple's App Store. If you've noticed that, here's why it happens and why it's exactly what you'd expect.
Why It's Rated This Way
Both app stores rate every app based on its content. Because your app relates to cannabis, an age-restricted product, the stores' content-rating systems classify it as mature. On Google Play, that rating comes from the IARC questionnaire (the International Age Rating Coalition), and references to cannabis place your app at Mature 17+. Apple applies its own highest age tier for the same reason.
This Is Normal and Required
A mature rating is standard for any cannabis app, and it's not a problem:
- It's required, not optional. The stores classify cannabis content this way by design.
- It matches your real audience. Your customers are adults already, so a mature rating doesn't keep out anyone who should be shopping with you.
- It reinforces compliance. An adult-only rating is consistent with cannabis being an adult-only product.
What You Need to Do
Nothing. We set the correct content rating when we submit your app, and we handle it through any future updates. If a customer ever asks why the app shows a mature rating, the simple answer is that it's the standard rating for cannabis apps.
