Keeping Your Apple and Google Developer Accounts Current
Your app lives on the Apple App Store and Google Play through developer accounts, and those accounts need to stay active for your app to stay available. Here's what to know so your app never goes dark.
Why It Matters
- Apple Developer Program renews on a yearly cycle. If the membership lapses, your app can be removed from the App Store until it's renewed.
- Google Play uses a developer registration to keep your app published.
If an account lapses, the most visible consequence is the same on either store: your app can stop being available for download until everything's current again.
Who Manages It
The developer accounts are yours. Your app is published under your dispensary's own Apple Developer and Google Play accounts, and you grant DopeTech access to manage the app on your behalf. We have step-by-step guides to walk you through setting up that access, so just ask your rep if you need them. From there, DopeTech keeps an eye on upcoming expirations and flags them ahead of time so there's no surprise downtime. Because the accounts are in your name, renewals and any associated fees run through your accounts, so keeping your payment details current is what keeps everything live.
What to Do
- Watch for renewal notices and act on them promptly, especially anything involving payment.
- Keep your billing details current on the account so a renewal doesn't fail.
- Loop us in if you get a notice you're unsure about, we'll help you sort it.
If an Account Lapses
If a developer account does expire, your app may be pulled from the store until it's renewed. Let us know right away, we'll help get everything reinstated and your app back up as quickly as possible.
